Emptying my camera. It didn't take long.

I plugged in my camera today for the first time in a long time and wound up deleting most of the pictures. They were awful, and proof that I need a lot of practice. The ones that remain aren't necessarily decent, just interesting to me.

I took this on a foggy morning I have no idea how long ago. A month maybe?

And of course Pete always makes the cut. He lives on the edge of danger with his head and paws hanging over, looking out over his kingdom fifteen feet below.

I took a bunch of these last time there was a full moon. Was that last week? My mad photography skills are in need of a tripod. That lawn chair just didn't cut it. It was a very cool sky though.

And this one from Leah, who just spent her spring break week with Deb and David and the grandbabies. Bean has two cats: Mama Kitty and Daddy Kitty. Yes, he named them. They are brother and sister. He loves these cats almost literally to pieces, and Mama Kitty is especially tolerant of his affections. Here, he has put Mama Kitty in the suitcase. I love that boy.

Tomorrow Mansquared is coming through with his "family" to have dinner and Blueberry Yum-Yum. As I was putting the dessert together, Ben said, "I knew it couldn't be for us."

A note from Anonymous.

Funny things happen when you take a blog hiatus. You get comments like this:

"Remember that time you blogged??? Yeah, me either."

And it's from Anonymous, whoever that is. So thank you, Anonymous, for giving me a laugh on this not-so-laughable evening.

This evening is not laughable for one very depressing reason: it is snowing. Now, you may not think that's a problem, but for this flip-flop-addicted, beach-loving woman, it is a HUGE problem. My neighbor continually prays for snow, and today I tried to bribe him with fresh vegetables from my future garden if he would just stop it already. Even the weather people don't know what to make of this storm. The predictions changed hourly last week.

Just a dusting.

Two to four inches.

Three to eight.

Rain/snow mix.

The last I heard was two inches, but the temperature is going to be 38 tomorrow so it wouldn't last.

Then I came across this on facebook:
So, I guess I can agree that at least we haven't had an earthquake lately. But then my oldest called from Florida and when he found out it was snowing here in Virginia, he said, "So I guess this is a bad time to tell you it's 75 degrees and sunny here?"

That would be a yes.

In other news, Abbey came back from her spring break spent fixing houses in Louisiana with a shoulder injury, so now we are in the process of getting her to a doctor to find out if something is torn. It sure seems like it, and she's pretty frustrated that she can't lift her right arm. Makes it hard to drive, do your hair, brush your teeth . . . necessary things like that.

Then I got a call from Mansquared today. Seems he injured his knee so badly that he was on crutches for a day before one of his professors (the athletic trainer at Liberty) reset something in it and gave him instructions to ice it and do some prescribed physical therapy exercises.

Ben suggested we send Abbey to this professor too.

In the meantime, we are back to our empty nest for a week before Mansquared comes through with a bunch of friends, and I intend to spend that week catching up on schoolwork for my second class, Understanding Educational Research and Assessment.

Contain your excitement.

Be thankful ~

PS. Anonymous, I blogged. :)

I am alive.

I have not been here in a long time. (I know, right?) I've been pretty busy with editing and having Ben's cold and trying to remember not to pick things up with my right hand because I have tendinitis (I think) in my right elbow (at least I hope that's what it is). And then we had snow and spent a small fortune getting two cars through inspection, after which Ben's truck promptly broke and is up on jacks down in the cul-de-sac. Our neighbors love us. And so do the bus drivers, who now cannot swing around the circle. They swing part way, then back up, and wind up doing the equivalent of a K-turn down there every morning. Ben has ordered parts, but they won't be here until next week. Poor bus drivers.

In other news, Abbey is on her way to Louisiana for spring break to do some kind of missions-related construction. She has her shorts on and is very happy to escape the snow and cold wind. She is live-tweeting their journey south and just wrote: "South Carolina your gas prices are glorious!" I might be jealous.

Mansquared is on his way home for the week, where he will be giving the dog a bath, going to the dump, and working with Padre to make money for the fall tuition bill. I've already started cooking in earnest. Today we have white chili and a big pot of spaghetti sauce for tomorrow's lasagna, plus chocolate chip cookies and the beginnings of Blueberry Yum-Yum. And a gallon of sweet tea.

Later . . .

Okay, so Mansquared has been fed and he and Padre have gone to fix some lady's toilet. Pete just about had a nervous breakdown when Mansquared showed up. His whining was the equivalent of a sobbing girlfriend when her military guy comes home from deployment. It was quite pathetic.

TTFN.
